Welcome to Koblenz, a city where history dances with the Rhine and Moselle River and where every cobblestones tell stories of the past. Wondering how to make the most of your day in this enchanting German city of over 100 000 inhabitans? Let me then tell you how to spend a day in Koblenz, Germany from Paris.

How to get to Koblenz Germany from Paris

There are plenty options to get to Koblenz to spend a day. You can either:

Drive for 5 hours if you are willing to go on a road trip.
Take the train from Paris Gare de L’Est train station; it will take you about 4 hours 30 min including a connecting stop to a DB German local train.
By plane from CDG ( Charles de Gaulle Airport); it will take you about less than an hour.

For our second time visiting Koblenz, we chose the plane and booked our flights on Lufthansa. The first time, we chose the train and booked our tickets on France National Railway company’s (SNCF) website.

What to do in Koblenz

Rise up early and begin your day with a stroll along the Rhine River to set the perfect tone for your day.
Loose yourself in the old town: Visiting the old town was my favorite thing to do. Wander through the streets of Altstadt where medieval charm will take your breath away.
Discover quaint shops
Visit the Electoral Palace the former residence of Kings and Princes where I attended a private event.
Book a boat cruise to navigate on the Rhine River
Take the Koblenz Cable car to get to the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress as a special excursion destination. The breathtaking cable car ride across the Rhine up to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress and should not be missed if you want to enjoy a spectacular view of the city.

Where to stay to spend a day in Koblenz Germany?

We stayed at the 4*Mercure Koblenz in order to collect hotel points. Our room was spacious, clean, and warm considering that it is cold in December. The hotel is at a walking distance to the center but is not centrally located.
Sander Hotel is another option, many of our friends stayed there and have nothing but great things to say about it. What I like about the Sander Hotel is its location. It is centrally located, close by the Koblenz train station, the old town, the city center and the mall.

Where to eat when you spend a day in Koblenz Germany

There are so many options to eat but we decided to follow a local ‘s suggestions and go to:

Stadtflair to have a mighty breakfast

Nana Breakfast Meze Bar for dinner and tapas
