Are you a solo traveler? Traveling with friends? Welcome! The Paris subway or underground has 16 lines including 2 secondary lines or (bis) that stop at 302 metro stations. They are numbered from 1-14 with secondary lines 3 bis and 7 bis who are short in terms of stations, number of riders and distance.
The metro system is run by RATP which also has 2 train lines RER A and part of RER B ( South side of Paris only). There are currently a huge project going on to extend some lines and create new ones in the upcoming years that will cover more cities/suburbs outside of Paris.
